Russell Hook ALL PUMPS AND WELLS I started working for Cannon Well Drilling Company in early 1999...James Hillman Cannon and his son James JR started teaching me the Technician side of the business 1st. "Said you got be able to fix the well before drilling one". So for first few years I was doing service. Along the side my mentor Glenn. Which was one of the best to learn from. After learning the ropes and putting in my time servicing. I than started cutting my teeth on drilling 2in wells with a small quick drill rotary. Than worked my way up to drilling bigger wells. I developed a passion for this industry. As years went by my mentors starting passing away or Retired. I loved help getting people water. With the support of my wife and the community and the rest of the cannons familly, they all convinced me to continue. So, I took a leap of faith. Kept working hard and got my drilling license with support of my new mentors. Someone still had to provide water to my community. So we opened our own family- owned business in 2015.I do it with pride and honor as Mr. Cannon is watching me. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lester Burch of Burch Well and Pump Micanopy Fl.
In 1969 after graduating high school I started college, at
that time it was called Santa Fe Junior college. I also started working part
time with my uncle, Wallace Burch well drilling. Then after I left Santa Fe I
started working as a machinist for Sperry Rand corporation and then for the
University of Florida agricultural engineering. For the next 12 years, then in
19 81 I started working with Wallace part time so I could go after my Contractor’s
license. Then in 19 84 I took the contractors test in Palatka and started Burch
well and pump. I mainly run cable tool for 4 in. & 6 in. wells and jetted 2in.
Wells. Then in 2000 I started running cable tool and Rotary rigs up until about
2010. I had to slow down because of my back. Then mainly I just worked on pumps
and water treatment. In 2021 I turned Burch Well and Pump over to my son Joseph
Burch and he created Burch Well and Pump LLC. After that I started working on
projects that I had come up with over the years of working in this industry. So
I started Burch Water Well Products LLC so I could market those new parts that
I had thought of for years. One was a shocker stopper that goes in a pressure
switch instead of using a stick, screwdriver, old credit card or whatever you
put in the Pressure switch to hold it open. Next was a control box cover that
test a submersible pump it checks amperage on a Franklin style control box,
stainless steel hand pumps, a new type of well seal that we're starting to use,
It is also stainless steel and numerous other parts that we're working on. One is
for a jet pump, to go down a 2 inch well with bad casing so you do not have to
pressurize the casing for the pump to work. So that's basically what I've done
over the last 54 years, and I never regret leaving my former trade although I
still have a shop with numerous lathes, milling machines, drill presses, welders
that I can work on these projects.
I have Served on the board Directors for the FGWA. And As
vice president, President for the North Central Florida Water Well Association
and currently the secretary and treasurer. June 2024 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hilliard’s Well Drilling and Pump Service LLC Buddy Hilliard
I
Started out at a very young age, my dad started drilling wells in 1969.
At 14 years old, I started helping my dad and learning the business, we
drilled wells on the weekends and they usually took two days to drill. I
worked with him all through High school, then after graduating I moved
off for a few years, returning in 1983 to get back into the business
with my dad.
In 1988 I started drilling 4” wells with a 55 Speed
Star, working under my dad’s license. In 1992 I started my own business
and continued to work under him until 1999 when I took my test to get my
own license, and making me a second generation well driller.
I drilled a lot of wells over the years, always striving to give my customers the quality they deserve.
I’m
proud to say I have a successful business and continue to serve my
dedicated customers, and remain a water well contractor today. May 2024 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- John Wright how he got started.
Well’’
it all got started in 1994. I had hired someone to install a shallow
well for irrigation. Ended up not having enough water. I figured I would
try to do it myself. After 3 months of trial & error, I was able to
get a 30ft shallow well to work. I figured out a perfect system that
was efficient. Then the word got out that I knew how to put in the
shallow wells.
This was the beginning, so I wanted to know
more on how to drill. That’s when I decided to get my state’s license
in 2000. I was on a mission to learn about deep wells so after bugging a
friend that was in the well business, he finally gave in to teach me.
His rig at the time was not operating, so I dragged it out and did the
repairs to get it up & running. That’s when I realized I had a
passion for drilling. I then established Wright’s Well Drilling. Here I
am now today with my wife & son hoping that it continues as a family
business. April 2024 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ron Myers was born into business and hasn’t found the need to stop… As
a young kid, I remember NCFWWA meetings with my dad on the back porch
of our house with 6-8 members, this was in the late 60’s.Growing
up in a family business , I learned about hard work from the inside. I
remember driving a service truck across Parker Road when it was a dirt
road at 10 yrs old and doing whatever needed to be done. I didn't know
there was a choice. I’ve always done well work but mainly handled
the septic side of our business in the 80’s. I continued to serve water
needs to the community until I acquired Myers Brothers Well and Septic
business. When the time was right, I sold out to a liquid waste company and thought I would retire. That lasted 3 months…I
realized I missed meeting customers, talking to them, getting to know
their stories but mainly helping them with their water needs. So…
I started up a new business from the ground up. Bought a service truck,
named it after my son and wife who are active participants of A&W
Pump Service. The intent is for it to grow into yet another family
business of the future. Feb. 2024
